Go out of police headquarters, secure schools instead, cops told
CEBU City Police Office (CCPO) Director Senior Supt. Royina Garma said she wants more police officers to be deployed in schools.
Garma said that from 3 p.m., all police officers in the headquarters should be detailed near schools to secure the students.
“Just so the parents would feel secure that our police officers will be looking out for the safety of their children especially when they go home,” Garma said.
She added that it will also be a deterrent to criminal elements who might want to harm students.
“If the students see the police, it would be easier for them to ask for help especially if something bad is happening to them,” she said.
Garma also urged the public to practice being cautious in riding jeepneys or when they are in public places.
“They shouldn’t flaunt their phones. You know, thieves just look for any chance that they could grab your belongings. Don’t give them that chance. Practice personal safety,” she said in Tagalog.
Garma said she is planning to deploy more police officers on the streets to prevent crimes. (JOB)
