Sinulog Festival 2018 officially opens

SINULOG Festival 2018 officially started on Friday, January 12, with an opening salvo and launching parade participated by various schools and firms in Metro Cebu. Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña officially opened the festival, an annual celebration in honor of Sto. Niño, or the child Jesus. The launching parade started at 4 p.m. at the Basilica Minore del Sto. More balikbayans expected in town for an ‘unparalleled experience’ during Sinulog

THE management of Mactan-Cebu International Airport and the Department of Tourism (DOT) are expecting more balikbayans to arrive in Cebu and join the Sinulog this year. Avi Maningo, corporate affairs officer of GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. said they’re expecting around 800 balikbayans, from 500 last year, who will arrive in Cebu under the Balik Cebu program. Acting police chief of Cebu City assumes office in the midst of Sinulog security preparations

EFFECTIVE yesterday, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has a new acting city director. Senior Supt. Angel Geñorga assumed the post of acting city director, replacing Senior Supt. Joel Doria, who will undergo a two-week training in Japan. Councilor Dave Tumulak said that Geñorga paid a courtesy call on Mayor Tomas Osmeña.
