Velarde wins silver medal

<p>LAPU-LAPU City prodigy Jerish John Velarde earned the silver medal in the U11 Blitz Competition of the 13th Asian Schools Chess Championships in Panjin, China.</p> <p>Velarde failed to win a medal in the rapid tournament and the Standard Chess competition but proved to be more resilient in the Blitz game to salvage the silver medal. He won all but one match in the nine-round Swiss System format. The event had 897 players from 22 countries in Asia.</p> Source: Local News


Team Gullas routs Aspa in Emil's Cup

<p>DEFENDING champions Team Samsam Gullas leaned on their veterans as they opened a title retention bid with a 129-93 victory over Aspa Scaffoldings in 10th Emil’s Fresh Chicken Invitational Basketball tournament last Saturday at the Minglanilla Sports Complex. </p> <p>Burly center Jessie Collado teamed up with Jovannie Aguilar, brothers Dino and Dennis Daa and upstart point guard Geliant Delator to log the first win of the league. </p> <p>Collado scored 20 points, Aguilar added 18, the Daa brothers combined for 25 pints and Delator made 12. </p> Source: Local News

4 Cebu teams join CDO dragonboat
